10 Things Alien: Isolation Will Do Better Than Aliens: Colonial Marines

6. The A.I.

The intelligence of your enemies in Colonial Marines was€shall we say, not so good. The Alien and human enemies of the game both liked standing out in the middle of the open for you to shoot them, with the Aliens especially liking to run straight at the business end of your overpowered shotgun. They never displayed any sense of strategy or method; the game literally just throws as many at you as it can in the hope that it will prove to be a challenge. It€™s not, even on the hardest difficulty. There were even some instances where Aliens just stand still as if you aren€™t around. In contrast, one of the most talked about aspects of Isolation is the programming of the Alien itself. Knowing that the entire game hinges on the performance of this singular creature, much time and effort has gone into giving it proper intelligence in order to provide the player with a challenge. The developers have talked up its ability to adapt to your strategies, its awareness of the environment, and the variability of its behavior. Whether all these promises are mere posturing remains to be seen, but plenty of gameplay footage has been released which actually shows how difficult it is to stay alive against the Alien, which already elevates it above Colonial Marines.
