10 Things Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Does Better Than Destiny

9. Weapon Variety

So let's start with an easy one - the weapons you'll be firing. In Destiny you're severely limited to just nine categories, the mods within altering everything from ammo-effects to blast-radius' and general proficiency when firing, among other things. It's this constant feed of 'new' weapons that provides a solid application of icing to the hardcore shooter-cake within, as Destiny's core 'feel' plays like a dream - it just doesn't have a whole lot going on in the way of variation. Each of the nine categories are differentiable enough - the handgun kicks like a mule and the shotgun feels like it could conquer a neighbouring planet before breakfast - but so far that's so Bungie. It's when it comes to delivering on some truly unique weaponry that Halo didn't already do better, that the experience falls apart. Enter COD, with enough weapons to make Michael Bay jealous as it gives you everything from twin chainguns to plantable turrets and even a laser beam (yes, really). Bungie's idea with Destiny was to give a great number of their guns 'stories' so when you saw another player with a certain gun, you'd know what they went through to obtain it mission-wise. Sadly that just isn't the case in the final game, but with COD's perk system unlocking a great many sci-fi-themed death-dealers every handful of levels, if you put the time in online you're going to look drastically different in the end.
