10 Things Fans Will Love (And Hate) About Mass Effect Andromeda

6. Hate: The New Omni-Tool

One of the most beloved pieces of iconography from Mass Effect, subject of cosplays and essentially to the series what the Pip-Boys are to Fallout, how - in the blue hell - do you go from the shot on the left, to that on the right?

In motion, the new Omni-Tool almost looks like one giant texture that hasn't loaded properly, its forever-stuttering 'interface' being a mess of horizontal lines and sepia-tinged static.

Even thematically, this doesn't really hold up, as the Andromeda Initiative brought over their tech from the Milky Way i.e. where the events of the original trilogy were already in full swing. For Bioware to then frame a variety of dialogue scenes around looking at the Omni-Tool directly (way more than ever before) and then to miss including the necessary detail is just... weird.
