10 Things We Learned From The Titanfall Beta

3. Graphically, It's Not Amazing

One of the first things I noticed after loading Titanfall was how disappointing the graphics were. I wasn't expecting Crysis 3-grade visuals by any means, and the trailers had already made this clear, but even running the game on "Insane" settings on the PC, I found myself greeted by low-res textures frequently, which is funnily enough something people have called the Call of Duty franchise out on for years now. It likely doesn't help that, like the Call of Duty games, Titanfall runs on an old engine, in this case a modified version of the Source engine, and though the gameplay itself is great fun, the visuals lag severely behind the pack. In addition to this, the colour palette seems extremely limited so far: granted we've only feasted our eyes on a few maps, but I'm already fed up of seeing green, grey and brown as the primary colours. Can we get a little more character, please?
