10 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About PlayStation
6. The Real Reason For Being
If you look at Sony's competition in the console market, you see the Xbox One S as a paragon of ultimate gaming technology, and the Wii U as more of a novelty offering than a serious games machine. So where does the PS4 fit in?
Well, in the same place it has since the PS2 first hit the shelves - universal home entertainment; a jack of all trades, master of none sort of thing.
The PS2 was DVD compatible without the need for peripherals, unlike the Xbox, and the PS3 was Blu-Ray compatible where the Xbox 360 wasn't. Now the PS4 Pro has been launched and doesn't have 4K HD Blu Ray compatibility, causing everyone to lose their minds.

If anything, the PS4 Pro is no more an entertainment unit than the Xbox One. For a company that specialises in entertainment tech, Sony have really dropped the ball.
