10 Things Pro Evolution Soccer Needs To Change To Compete With FIFA Again

7. Fix The Main In Game Bugs

On the whole the gameplay this year was very good but a few simple bugs really hold it back. The collision system is one that football games have never truly been able to get right. There was a spell when the stronger player would win every 50/50, but this year on PES it plays very random. The biggest annoyance though can be when after two players come together the man you control simply stays completely still for a few seconds allowing your opponent to pick up the ball.

The other two big problems are player switching and a general delay in response to a button press. Changing players is key when defending, but all too often it doesn’t pick the most appropriate player and manually changing requires extra time which you often don’t have. However, it is undoubtedly the unresponsiveness that is the biggest sticking point.

Online it kills the game and while offline it is better it is far from perfect. The slight delay in your player releasing a pass especially when controlling a defender with the ball can mean curtains. You don’t get the pass away in time, the opposition takes it off you in a great position, they score. It can be very infuriating, especially when it is so close to a very good football game.

It sounds simple when it plays well it plays very well, but inconsistency and these little flaws really hold it back.
