10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Final Fantasy VII

2. Cloud And Tifa Were Supposed To Have Sex

Don't you just love a good love story? The love triangle in Final Fantasy VII isn't especially vital to the storyline but it is an important factor nonetheless. There's plenty of debate around the internet about who Cloud truly loves - be that Aerith or Tifa - but there's very few definitive answers. At one time, there very easily could have been though. The night before entering the final dungeon, Cloud sends the party away, telling them to find a reason to fight. He and Tifa stay behind as they have nowhere else to go and they have an intimate conversation under the stars. The scene changes according to how Cloud has treated Tifa throughout the game (judged by the hidden Affection Meter); one line in the High Affection scenario seems to allude to the two having sex - Tifa states: "Cloud... Words aren't the only thing that tell people what you're thinking..." Many people have come to the assumption that this leads to the two having sex (the screen fades to blank moments afterwards) but nothing is ever proven. In an early version of this scene, it was far more obvious; the next scene would show Cloud leaving the Highwind's Chocobo Stable with Tifa following shortly behind, looking around anxiously to see if they were spotted. The scene was judged to be too 'extreme' and was toned down - not quite the Hot Coffee scandal, but it's pretty shocking nonetheless.
