Despite all of the skepticism, doubt and lack of support, the motion gaming-focused machine defied the odds in 2006 and flew off shop shelves as if Judgement Day was just around the corner.
And yet, even now, some consider it to be a failure because of a perceived notion that Nintendo 'sold out' to the casual market, 'betraying' their loyal fanbase for the sake of capitalising on a fad, which is exactly what it was.

Nobody expects the Big N to completely abandon their unique approach to gaming (we wouldn't have the DS series of handhelds if that were the case), but such things should never be forced on consumers. Give us the traditional option first, and then, if the groundwork is solid, introduce those more offbeat ideas as optional additions.
