10 Things To Love And Hate About The Spyro Reignited Trilogy

5. Love: The Scavenger Hunt Style

At the very heart and soul of each of the original games was the "scavenger hunt" style feel to each level. Watching that gem counter increase until it was maxed out, or seeing that last egg or orb pop into your inventory - there was something about the style of play that made it far easier than you'd expect to keep coming back and keep completing these levels.

This spirit of the originals is carried over and works just as well as it ever did. There is something very addictive about scanning every inch of a level, seeing off all of the enemies and being rewarded at the end with the notification that you have done everything that there is to do.

Combined with the progress bar in the save menu and the in-game counters and percentages, the old appeal that kept us running, flying and flaming until every last thing was safely tucked inside our inventory transfers over surprisingly seamlessly into this generation of consoles.

The epitome of this is always the bonus stages which feel less like challenges and more like rewards, where collecting obscene amounts of "extras" is your thanks for completing everything else.
