10 Things We Desperately Want From Resident Evil 8

7. Varied Boss Fights

Perhaps the biggest trapping that the Resident Evil games have fallen into recently is having generic boss fights.

More often than not, Capcom knocks it out of the park when it comes to the design and presentation of its fearsome boss monsters. But they do lose some of their shine when you realise that they boil down to the simple formula of 'shoot weak spot, rinse and repeat', which is fine and can produce some incredibly intense encounters, but surely we should strive for something more?

Thotoughout the series, the Resident Evil games have had numerous boss encounters that incorporate puzzle or timed elements that add a little variety to the gameplay, such as the Uroboros fight in Resident Evil 5, or the dreaded plane encounter against The T-079 in Code Veronica. These encounters are legendary amongst fans for their reliance on evasion over straight-forward gunplay and often rank amongst the best the series has to offer.

Resident Evil 8 looks like it's introducing a whole host of terrifying new creatures for us to square off against, so here's hoping the boss battles themselves offer up a little more challenge than what we've been getting as of late.
