This could be a toughie.

EA Sports have changed the way their FIFA series is consumed forever by focusing on the Ultimate Team mode for the past decade or so. Yes, this does come at a cost. Players who enjoy Career Mode and other offline features have been left behind for a while, but it's hard to refute the success of FUT as a focal point for EA.

They've made wads of cash with the mode, and Yukes could too if they can somehow marry what FIFA offers with the colourful world of pro wrestling. To do so, they could look towards the WWE Supercard game and its emphasis on stats. There's a whole world of possibilities here, and it'd be fun for fans to compete in matches, tournaments or gimmick bouts to unlock arenas, superstars and packs of new wrestlers.

This would replace the mind-numbing boredom of the VC points grind (or, dare we say it, the dreaded loot boxes), and it'd place less pressure on players to dump another one-off payment to unlock everything at once so they can actually enjoy the game. A sense of progression, socialisation and enjoyment is needed.
