10 Things WWE 2K17 Needs More Than Goldberg
5. The Return Of A Proper Story Mode
Speaking of which, it's been too long since gamers were afforded a robust story experience in WWE games. The Showcase feature has been a success, being able to play through some of the biggest moments in Steve Austin's career (for example) felt magical at times.
That still doesn't change the fact that an up-to-date, living and breathing story is something the games lack. Once again looking at Here Comes The Pain, there was so much to see and do in that mode. Even taking a lower-level star who started out on Sunday Night Heat felt enjoyable, building them up to compete for the top titles at WrestleMania and other pay-per-views.
That's all part of the charm. A story mode doesn't really need to be completely open-ended, there does need to some restraint on narrative, but it's something so many have been crying out to see for years now. 2K17 is the time to bring it back, because the games don't feel as compelling without it.
Imagine a similar 2-year experience like Shut Your Mouth or Here Comes The Pain in 2K17, it'd be awesome.
