10 Things WWE 2K21's REAL Replacement Needs To Fix

8. 2K Showcase

2K Showcase, in both its idea and execution, is generally excellent. Not only does it provide a welcome trip down memory lane for older fans, while showing iconic stories from the past for younger fans, but it is also complete with painstakingly created cutscenes which show the clear love of the source material held by the developers.

However, since its inception in WWE 2K15, Showcase mode has been plagued by two major issues. Firstly, many of the matches can take as long as twenty minutes to complete. This in itself isn’t a problem, and can add to the epic nature of many of the matches, but the problem comes when you fail an objective. There aren’t any save points in matches, so if you get right to the end of one and then get pinned, you have to start the match all over again, which kills any desire to press on.

The other problem is that much of the time it doesn’t feel as though you, the player, are controlling key moments in matches like you should. Often players will get a notification saying “Perform a Finisher in the ring,” only for a cutscene to start as soon as they do it.

This takes you out of the action, and can make you feel as though you are just allowing the game to move from beat to beat so that you can have the privelage of watching a cutscene. Though they do not ruin the experience, these seem like quick fixes 2K can make to ensure that an excellent mode becomes near perfect.
