10 Things WWE 2K21's REAL Replacement Needs To Fix

3. The Online Modes

The online portion of WWE games is split into two halves. The first, the creation sharing side, is incredible. WWE games have always contained one of the best creation suites in gaming, while also allowing fans to share their creations online, meaning players can download stars from WWE's past who didn't make the roster, or even performers from other promotions such as AEW.

However, the other half of 2K20's online portion is a mess. The mode continues to be plagued by the same issues it has had for years. The game's servers are generally poor, providing laggy gameplay that does not prove to be a particularly enjoyable experience. For a company the size of 2K, this kind of server performance should be unacceptable in 2020, and it is an issue that needs to be addressed in their next offering.

The other key issue with 2K's online section is that there is little incentive to play it outside of facing your friends. Other sports games such as FIFA 20 offer weekly rewards for players who play online, however the WWE 2K games have always shied away from this approach. 2K would massively improve the longevity of their game if they made playing online a worthwhile experience, as once players work out the nuances of the AI, offline matches become far too easy and thus boring to play.

Therefore, 2K needs to make playing online something players should see as a key part of the experience in their next offering.
