10 Things You Didn't Know About Heavy Rain
3. Only 33% Of Players Managed To Get The Game's Best Ending On Launch
One of Heavy Rain's greatest original selling points was its vast number of different endings depending on the player's actions throughout. These from the Origami Killer facing the sharp end of an industrial waste crusher and everyone else living happily ever after (except poor Norman Jayden), to the Origami Killer walking free while everyone else meets a miserable, waterlogged end.
During the game's original release on the PS3, only a third of players managed to achieve the "best" ending, in which Ethan and Madison embark on a new life, Norman Jayden resigns from the FBI and - spoiler alert - murderer Scott Shelby gets shredded into chilli con carne. This is hardly surprising, as many action sequences in the game could kill a player character simply for missing a couple of prompts, and failing to rescue Shaun in time always results in the deaths of both Ethan Mars and Norman Jayden.
Since the game's re-releases in the form of the PlayStation Move Edition, PS4 remastering and PC release, that number has risen sharply, though sadly it's most likely through players pre-emptively Googling how to achieve the best result rather than letting the game play out naturally.
