10 Things You Didn't Know About Heavy Rain
4. More DLC Was Planned, But Ultimately Cancelled
After the release of Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream initially planned to expand the game with a series of short downloadable prequels. These were to be known as the Heavy Rain Chronicles. Proposed ideas for these included how Norman Jayden got his facial scar and became addicted to the fictional drug Triptocaine, and how Madison ended up with her trademark insomnia (likely referring back to her time as a combat journalist).
After the release of just one of these, however, Quantic Dream announced that the series had been put on hold. They then announced the upcoming release of Beyond: Two Souls in 2012, which halted the production of any more episodes of Heavy Rain Chronicles.
The only episode released, titled The Taxidermist, features - and try not to roll your eyes too hard - Madison Paige following a lead on the Origami Killer, only to find the suspect's house full of dismembered and taxidermied young women. She then has to fend off a chainsaw-wielding murderer, presumably being dismembered and stuffed should the player fail. Of all the interesting choices available, Quantic Dream chose only to make the exploitative torture-porn sequence? Great. Cheers, David Cage.
