10 Things You Didn't Know About Super Mario Odyssey

8. New Donk City Road Signs

Nintendo's mascot's latest outing is chockablock with Easter Eggs referencing Mario's storied past, with some being more on the nose than others (the Super Mario 64 outfit is a particular favourite).

But one of these Easter Eggs which might be easier to miss is that of New Donk City's street signs.

It's no secret that this Kingdom, heavily inspired by New York City, delves deep into Mario's past, culminating in a recreation of everyone's favourite plumber's first ever outing in the original arcade Donkey Kong.

But take a closer look at those quintessentially Manhattan street signs and you'll see the entire city pays homage to Donkey Kong. Many of New Donk City's streets are named after a member of the Kong family or other characters which appear in the Donkey Kong Country series and Donkey Kong 64.

So you can take a stroll down Cranky Street, head west on Dixie or hitch a ride on Krool. That, in the words of Funky Kong, is way cool.
