10 Things You Didn't Know About Wolfenstein

3. Fallout

We've already spoken about Wolfenstein's ties and references to games like Doom and Commander Keen, but perhaps its biggest hidden relation is its connection to Fallout. With The New Order, The Old Blood and Fallout games post-2004 all being published by Bethesda Softworks, it's no surprise little nods to the post-apocalyptic open world game feature in the 2014 and 2015 Wolfenstein releases.

In the seventh-chapter of The New order, players are tasked with collecting a concrete sample for Anya. When searching for this, the game takes us past two vault doors, both of which have the number 101 inscribed on them. Rather intriguingly, this appears to be an obvious reference to Fallout 3, where the games' main character, the Lone Wanderer, emerges from vault 101 at the beginning of the campaign.

A second fallout Easter egg can be found in the first mission of The Old Blood. On a vending machine, players can identify a button for a certain 'Nuka-Cola', a beverage founded in the Fallout franchise. It certainly makes you wonder what other popular titles include discrete references to another successful franchise, in fact, just check the next entry in this list...
