10 Times Dark Souls Games BRUTALLY Tricked You
7. The Sewer Centipedes - Dark Souls 3
Enemy ambushes are to be expected in a Soulsborne title. They’re as commonplace as seeing the words “You Died” or stumbling upon a poison swamp. Some foes may be waiting around a corner to push you off a ledge, others may be waiting on the ceiling to jump down at the worst possible moment, and some even pop out of the ground to surprise you.
However, none of these ambushes are as unexpected and downright terrifying as the creatures encountered in the waters surrounding Irithyll.
When setting foot in this area, players will notice what look to be the corpses of women floating in the shallow water. Bleak imagery like this nothing new for Dark Souls but get a little too close to what you’d assume to be a harmless piece of world building and you’ll be met with a sewer centipede.
With its spider-like body and human head draped with wet black hair, these creatures are a cross between a centipede and the girl from The Ring. Often found in groups and with a fondness for pouncing on players, these creepy crawlies can easily overwhelm unexpecting Ashen Ones and introduce them to the rows of razor-sharp teeth where their chest should be.
