Booby traps are a common occurrence in any Soulsborne game that are strategically placed throughout areas to punish players with the hubris to believe they can charge headfirst into any situation.

Whether it’s a sneaky pressure plate, collapsing floor, or an alarm that alerts nearby enemies of your presence, players get caught out by these more times than not. However, now that players know where the trap is, they’ll be more equipped to deal with it next time around.

However, the team who worked on Bloodborne’s Forbidden Woods stayed one step ahead.

Whilst exploring this creepy forest, players will come across a pathway which harbours a nasty surprise in the form of a spiked log that swings down, flattening players in the process.

Knowing that this log is there, players instinctively roll back to avoid the log on their next run. As they watch the log swing past where they were once standing, players may think they’ve cleverly avoided death.

But by stepping back all players will get is the perfect view to watch the same log break off and roll straight towards where they’re now standing, flattening them all over again.
