10 Times Doctor Who Appeared In Video Games

6. Tavid Dennant - EverQuest

Doctor Who is so wide-reaching in cultural impact that it made its way into the MMORPG which kickstarted a whole new genre.

Upon the release of the EverQuest expansion Seeds of Destruction, players could interact stop and chat with an NPC in the Guild Hall who used to be called Flavin Deepockets who was now known as Tavid Dennant. Whilst he doesn't really look or emulate the Time Lord all that much, he does have a few contextual clues that make it clear the developers are paying homage to the sci-fi show.

Firstly, Tavid Dennant is obviously just a slight modification of David Tennant's name. Dennant fully gives the game away when you speak to him, though; he'll ask players to help him find his a certain long-lost colourful scarf (hello again, Fourth Doctor).

Rather uniquely, Dennant also makes reference to a pocket watch that he can't recall where he got it, but is nevertheless an important part of him. This is clearly a further reference to the much-lauded episode "Human Nature", in which Tennant uses the Chameleon Arch Fob to temporarily become human and bait out the insidious Family of Blood.

Inevitably talking about Into The Spiderverse. Lover of movies, books and games, not necessarily in that order. @Are_You_Shore I also co-host a podcast now! www.youtube.com/channel/UCKS4_sumDLinlzgdMBAZk7g
