10 Times Final Fantasy 7 Remake Made Our Jaw Drop

8. Looking Up At The Plate (and Looking Down From It)

Call me sad, but one of the things I personally was most looking forward to in FF7 Remake was looking up at the plate from the slums. It’s not something you ever get to do in the original game, and I was intrigued as much as anything to see exactly how it would look.

The answer, of course, is that it looks incredible. The sense of scale the designers were able to generate is immense. You can totally appreciate the colossal size of the place. It’s daunting, and that’s exactly how it should feel to those dwelling in the slums below.

The detail of the plate is satisfying, too; a mess of metal, pipes and electrical cables makes for a perfectly believable appearance.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for when you get the opportunity to look down at the slums from above. For a game that looks so incredible for the majority, the abomination that is the low-resolution image that was used for the overhead slum visual must be seen to be believed. That’s a very different ‘wow’.
