1. Ubisoft Hiding Watch Dogs' Real Graphics In The Game
UbisoftMuch has been written about Watch Dogs and its ridiculous graphical-controversy, so much so that it seemed people were focussing far too much on an element of the game that just didn't exist anymore. Maybe the version of the game Ubisoft showed off at that first unveiling was able to look so beautiful,
because only that part of the city had been created so far? Maybe corners were cut out of sheer necessity for the final version, and
there was nothing to really get
annoyed about? Then we saw the screenshots and footage of the game as it was 'supposed' to look, as it was revealed that with only a few minor tweaks, the full game could be restored to its former glory. Still, this wouldn't be a "F**k you" to the fans, as Ubisoft came out and said the changes were integral to the running of the game, and to maintain things such as framerate when playing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwd55NvmHW8 Then you see the above footage of players driving around Chicago with everything turned up to 11, and it looks positively
gorgeous. If it really came down to this option of 'would you rather have an extra few frames of resolution?' then the option for these render passes should still have been in the game, but instead Ubisoft seemed to acknowledge their failings, and do absolutely nothing about them.
Which other times did it feel like a game developer's middle finger was sprouting out the screen and coming right at you? Let us know in the comments!
