10 Times Gaming Developers Brutally Messed With Historical Events
6. Using Modern Weaponry - Gettysburg: Armored Warfare
In 1886, the two sides of the American Civil War fought in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. An important turning point in US history, but have you ever wondered what it would be like if it was fought with a rocket launcher?
What you will likely not read about it through various historical text books is how they used overpowered tanks, modern armour and chain guns on the battlefield, but that's exactly the setting for not so historical multiplayer shooter, Gettysburg: Armored Warfare.
So how did this wild situation come about? According to the game's manual, some time in the distant future a freak accident occurs involving an experimental Hadron Collider. No, not that Hadron Collider, but a very fictional North American one. The sudden explosion leaves parts of Virginia in tatters and a wormhole left in its place, a new doorway back through time that a rogue General with ties to the Confederacy takes advantage of.
Players then choose their side and fight using a variety of modern weapons and the like, all shipped back to 1886 in the hope of changing history in the process.
