10 Times Just Not Giving A F**K Gave Us Great Video Games
5. Borderlands 2
If you look through Gearbox Software's extensive catalogue of games, you'll find that they've made some truly awful games. They've also made some fantastic ones; most notable of all, the Borderlands series. Heavily inspired by the likes of Diablo, Borderlands is a first-person shooter with an added emphasis on killing enemies for loot. With a colourful, cel-shaded art style and unique sense of humour, Borderlands quickly won over a lot of people. Then Borderlands 2 came out and escalated everything. It got outlandishly crazy, it parodied just about every internet meme in existence and it had a villain who wore somebody else's face as a mask. Simply put, it was awesome. People will remember Borderlands 2 for the over-the-top humour but there was a solid RPG-FPS hybrid underneath too. Some of the bosses required big levels of strategy and co-operation to defeat and there was plenty of variety to the classes and skills, meaning there was always something new to learn or do. The juvenile humour and bonkers world of Borderlands could only have been created by developers openly looking for ways to make their game as fun as possible. After all, who needs deep storylines, emotional attachment and realistic characters when you have 87 bazillion guns (their words, not ours!)?
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
