10 Times Just Not Giving A F**K Gave Us Great Video Games
3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Now that Assassin's Creed has become a yearly series (as in, we get a new Assassin's Creed game every year), noticeable problems have started to arise in the formula. The combat is pretty stale and the stealth aspects are awfully implemented; much of the series needs a shake up. Most of these problems came to a head with Assassin's Creed III; not only was it full of bugs and fronted by an unlikable Assassin, it felt so repetitive and dull that many people simply gave up. So many people approached Black Flag with apprehension; perhaps that's why it blew us away so massively. Ubisoft threw aside much of what we had come to expect from Assassin's Creed and gave us a game which felt fresh, unique and, most importantly, fun. Nobody could have predicted that Assassin's Creed would feature piracy as a key function, yet it did and it did it amazingly well. Large portions of the game see you sailing the seas with your crew, raiding ships, stealing loot and going on adventures; it's as good as it sounds. For Ubisoft to tear up the rulebook so dramatically was a huge decision. Sure, some of Black Flag is still weighed down by Assassin's Creed's problems (mainly the on-foot sections, in all honesty) but the sailing sections are so fun, you won't really mind. Black Flag is the result of a company having a new idea and just running riot with it; it's a great game as a result.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
