10 Times Silent Hill Was Absolutely Terrifying

1. The Haunting Scenarios In Room 302 - Silent Hill 4: The Room

Silent Hill 4: The Room is often disregarded by fans and critics alike being too different; even Konami decided to leave it out of the recent HD collection. While it has its faults, such as the emphasis on action that€™s supported by poor combat mechanics, Silent Hill 4: The Room still introduced an interesting idea that led to some of the most frightening moments in the series: the room that Henry explores in first person. For the first half of the game, players can return to room 302 at any time to restore Henry's health, manage his inventory, and uncover clues about his situation thanks to the notes left mysteriously left underneath his door. When they return in the second half of the game, they might notice that something's off when Henry's health fails remains the same - however it's when you enter the apartment and notice ghosts are trying to invade that you feel surprised but also disheartened by the fact that you can no longer rely on the room for safety. Regardless of which surprise scenario players encounter first, they now realise that ghosts are actively trying to kill Henry in what used to be the safest place in the game, making his situation one of the most dangerous, frustrating, and terrifying experiences that the series has to offer. What were your most terrifying moments? Let us know in the comments!
