P.T. has earned its well-deserved reputation as one of the scariest Silent Hill games in some time, even though its essentially both a demo and a marketing piece. It even manages to give fans of the original games a glimmer of hope by upholding one of the series more terrifying traditions: unnerving bathroom scenes. The first plays out similarly to most Silent Hill bathroom scenes; everything appears to be normal, albeit nerve wracking in the most claustrophobic manner. Once he finds a flashlight, the protagonist notices a fetus in the bathroom sink, and to his surprise it begins to cry out in pain while the door handle cruelly teases him by moving up and down. With this scene, Kojima shows his sense of style is similar to Team Silents. Rather than have something jump out of the bathroom curtains for a quick scare, he chose to focus on creating a tense atmosphere, toying with the players like a cat would with its prey; its a style that Team Silent was very fond of. Many of Silent Hills fans look down on the Western-developed games because their style is different from the originals. However, if this bathroom scene is any indication of what Silent Hills will be like, then fans can rest assured that Kojima will provide the tension-building scares that the series has been missing.
