Hacker's Memory is the follow up to Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, following Keisuke Amasawa as the main character. It was released as a dual game for Nintendo Switch and Windows with its predecessor in 2019. It takes place in a near-future version of Shibuya, Japan where there exists an advanced form of the Internet known as Cyberspace Eden, which users can physically enter.

Keisuke is a fledging trainer who has his account for Eden stolen, so he tries to track down the culprit. Along the way, he encounters a trainer where, to fit in, he goes to buy a Digimon, though it is one of the least popular. There are three available and the two he doesn't pick will be deleted. He challenges the trainer to release the other into the wild, though instead, the trainer summons his own Devimon and Ogremon to fight him.

Keisuke needs help badly, which he thankfully receives from Ryuji Mishima. Ryuji then introduces Keisuke to their friends, who are less than impressed. Chitose Imai, in fact, is so apathetic toward him that Keisuke earns the nickname 'Redshirt', for his perceived unimportance and 'background' appearance!
