10 Times Video Game Critics Got It Wrong

6. No Man's Sky

Zelda Skyward Sword Metacritic
Hello Games

Metacritic Score: 7.1

User Score: 4.5

Even if No Man's Sky has picked up since release, there's just no forgetting a first impression, and the one that Hello Games gave us was filled with deceit and dull gameplay.

So why on earth did it get good reviews?

No Man's Sky is perhaps one of the most controversial and upsetting games of this generation, with so many people putting their faith in at as the game to end all games. When it ended up being mediocre, it shocked the world, yet most critics out there weren't phased by it at all.

A glance at Metacritic will show you that whilst critics gave it favourable reviews, users absolutely slammed the game and leaved it with a bad unfavourable review score.

Although this sort of disagreement can be pretty common, the fact that No Man's Sky was a boring, empty mess was sort of unarguable. The fact is, No Man's Sky has only just started earning the review scores it initially got, and even then it's a pretty hard sell.
