10 Times Video Game Critics Got It Wrong

5. Uncharted 3

Zelda Skyward Sword Metacritic
Naughty Dog

Metacritic Score: 9.2

User Score: 8.4

Uncharted 3 was lauded as the best game in the series when it first came out, but that's definitely an overstatement.

As great as Drake's Deception is, it's nowhere near as great as Uncharted 2, and especially no better than the last game in the series, A Thief's End.

With many critics giving Uncharted 3 perfect review scores, you might think it's much better or at least on par with Uncharted 2, which received similar levels of praise as the third game. That's not really the case.

Despite some improved gameplay, Uncharted 3 really let itself down with the story and overreliance of setpieces. With Naughty Dog considering the setpieces before the story, many of them actually don't make much sense at all and are simply there to show off.

When you compare this to Uncharted 2, which managed to have amazing moments and still have a coherent and passionate narrative, it really shows which is the better game.

Don't get me started on Uncharted 4's lower scores.
