10 Times Video Game Developers Lied Straight To Your Face

8. Fable's "Realistic World"

A list about developers lying about video games wouldn't have been complete without Peter Molyneux. The industry giant has become infamous for telling little white lies about every project he's ever worked on, often announcing features in interviews that the developers working back at Lionhead had no idea about.

It was never done in a malicious way, and you can tell that Molyneux certainly had plans to fit all of these proposed ideas into his projects, but his ambitions never quite matched up with the realities of video game development. While he's always been bad though, his reputation as a bit of a liar was cemented during the production of the original Fable.

Constantly talking about how realistic the RPG's world was going to be, one quote became emblematic of his failure to fulfil promises, with him stating players would be able to plant an acorn and watch it grown into a grand oak tree over the course of the title, something which wasn't at all possible at the time.

Funnily enough, a lot of the features he boasted about would make their way into the sequel, but by then he had already moved onto grander claims that once again would never become reality.
