10 Times Video Game DLC Was Better Than The Main Story

5. The Shivering Isles - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Bethesda is at their best when they embrace the absolute insanity of their worlds. Whenever you ask people their favourite parts of Skyrim, they always answer with the wacky Daedric Quests and the joke quests. So, it is no surprise that the best part of Oblivion is the entire DLC devoted to everyone's favourite mad god.

Nothing in this DLC is meant to be taken seriously, and that's what makes it work. Sure, the climatic and desolate story of the Oblivion Crisis makes for a good fairytale, but when it comes to an enjoyable time, people want something unique. It's all about why you are swinging your sword and the fun eccentricity of the Shivering Isles tops any quest in the base game.

That's all without mentioning the fact that the Isles are easily the most interesting and diverse landscapes around. The main game's fields and forests are nothing compared to the mad swamplands and mushroom forests of Bethesda take on Wonderland.
