10 Times Video Games Got Weapons Wrong
2. The Gun-Reloading Ghost - Tomb Raider: Underworld
Tomb Raider: Underworld sees Lara come across a temple known as Niflheim; a Nordic realm with links to, you guessed it, the underworld. The themes of Norse mythology run throughout the story, with Lara eventually wielding Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.
Yes the game is completely bonkers from start to finish, but that does not exclude it from persecution when it comes to more reality-based constructs.
See, Lara adorns her akimbo Heckler & Koch USP pistols, quickly and skilfully cutting her enemies down in a torrent of bullets. Question marks have been raised over the years as to how exactly Lara manages to reload her pistols as efficiently as she does without ever letting go of either weapon, but in Tomb Raider: Underworld, an entirely new question begs to be asked.
Lara's dual USP's hold a total of 24 rounds, and provided she finishes a gun fight without emptying both clips, she will slot the weapons back in her thigh holsters. Don't get engaged in combat again in the following few moments, however, and the next time Lara draws her weapons, they will be magically reloaded.
I like to think Winston died in that walk-in freezer and now accompanies Lara on her adventures in spirit form.
