10 Times Wrestling Video Games Broke The Fourth Wall

4. Commentary Confusion (WWE All Stars)

There's one more fourth wall moment in All Stars that's worth mentioning.

If you start up a multiplayer match and don't touch either controller, both Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler start to get a bit tetchy on commentary. At first, they'll make jokes about how fans must be thrilled about the lack of action, but then they'll directly speak to the players responsible.

Lines like, "Hey, hey you. Yeah, I'm talking to you. Pick up the controls and get this match going!" from Lawler and, "Helloooo. Hey! Will somebody press a button already!" from JR are actually pretty funny little Easter eggs that most wouldn't be expecting. They help give the game a quirky flavour that definitely suits it.

When one player finally throws a punch or hits a move, Ross and Lawler don't have anything smart-assed to say. They just slip back into their regular commentary like total professionals; if that was also intentional, then even better.
