10 Times Wrestling Video Games Broke The Fourth Wall

3. Commentary Awareness (WWE '12)

The absurdity of playing as Tazz whilst Tazz is also commentating shouldn't be lost on anyone who picks up an older WWE game. This is true for the likes of Jerry Lawler, JBL and even Michael Cole too. All of those characters have snappy lines when they're calling their own matches.

Cole's is arguably the best of the bunch.

Play as him in WWE '12, lose the match easily and you'll hear Cole whine, "Hey, I didn't lose - there must be some kind of glitch in this game". He can also be found bantering back and forth with Tazz in SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 whenever the 'Human Suplex Machine' starts to put himself over as "thickly muscled", "handsome" and "just a great guy everyone should play as".

The developers must've had a great time coming up with lines that'd either self-deprecate or make someone seem big-headed. Credit to the workers themselves (if Michael Cole can be accurate described as a "worker") for taking the p*ss.
