10 Times You Bought The Wrong Video Game INTENTIONALLY
6. Buying COD: Infinite Warfare For Modern Warfare Remastered
Ah, Activision, you old dog. You just don’t seem to care you’re the villain now, do you?
If you think fans are miffed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered (Christ, say that ten times fast) is a timed exclusive right now, you must’ve forgotten the utter disdain expressed when Modern Warfare Remastered, a remaster of a beloved fan and critical favourite, was announced as a pack-in title with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a game with... we’ll say, “mixed” reactions upon its announcement.
To those of you unsure of how big a deal this was, it’s the equivalent of only selling the original Star Wars Trilogy with a purchase of The Phantom Menace.
At the time, this was a monumental gaffe - on YouTube, the announcement that the only way to replay the classic adventure was to buy a totally different game (Infinite Warfare being notable for having a more sci-fi, futuristic tone that didn’t gel with some fans) incited viewers to create the highest and most skewed dislike count on a YouTube video ever.
Even the ever-brazen Activision had to eat a big chunk of humble pie after this, and decided to sell Modern Warfare Remastered separately after all.
