10 Totally Out Of Place Video Game Intros
2. Bubble Bobble Also Featuring Rainbow Islands
There simply aren't enough drugs in the world to explain what the hell the developers of Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands were thinking when they shoved this two-minute slice of borderline-experimental art into the start of the game.
Before players can get on with the expected platforming shenanigans, they're presented with a frankly insane, abjectly nonsensical animated FMV sequence that's packed with poorly detailed characters traipsing through a world so aggressively candy-coloured it's liable to give you a hangover-tier migraine.
3D animation was still very much an emerging artform when the home version of the game was released in 1996, but even so, this is the sort of inexplicable nonsense liable to give even the hardiest kids a few weeks worth of trauma nightmares.
For context, Toy Story came out the year before this, yet didn't create deep-seated hangups you needed to disentangle with a therapist many years later.
