10 Truly Terrible Video Game Covers

7. Cliffhanger

It's a terrible game based on a moderately enjoyable bit of age-old Stallone shlock, but this effortless cover couldn't inspire even the most ardent Stallone fan to give the game a go. It is as though this was the artist's final assignment on a Friday afternoon; all his buddies were slinking out early to hit the bar, so he simply took this bland publicity still from the film, added the various video-game signatures and stamps, and sent it off to the printers. There's not an iota of inspiration in this horrible design, and more to the point, it barely even conveys the ideas and themes of the game and/or film adequately. Look at Stallone's face, for instance; he looks like he's enjoying himself, when this cover should convey the peril and fear that can come with mountain-climbing. Rather, he's just comfortable hanging around without a care in the world; hardly makes us feel excited for this sure-to-be thrilling game that's coming out, does it? Terrible.
