3. The Rage-Quitter

Above is a realistic photo of what I want to do to my controller sometimes, over the course of a game. Be it lag, a lucky kill, poor hit detection, or being knocked by a quickscoper... let's face it: the game WILL make you furious at some point. However... the way I see it, quitting a game out of rage boggles the mind.

There are plenty of reasons in sports or fighting games to do so - you may deny your (jerk?) opponent a win, cause them to lose their victory, etc. However, in FPS games, these guys are far too common.

They typically enter the lobby, proceed to talk sh*t and then... fall far short of their own expectations. And with less than a minute in the game, they disappear from the scoreboard, with a small notification in the corner that they've left the game.

My question is... why?

Rage quitting:

gives you a loss anyway wastes whatever effort you've already put in prevents you from any possible form of vengeance (the sole reason I don't do it) gives the person/people harassing you the satisfaction that they've beaten you into surrender. Although I frequently encounter this type of gamer in lobbies when I play with my clan (because players tend to see clan tags and back out of the lobby, or quit the game), the logic just confuses me.
