10 Underplayed Races You Should Try In Dungeons And Dragons
5. Firbolg
The giant guardians of nature, standing between 7 to 8 feet and 300 pounds, Firbolgs are a force to be reckoned with. However, they are quite peaceful creatures, preferring to live in a tribe or strongholds in the forest, in peaceful harmony with the natural world. This is unless the area surrounding them is threatened. If provoked, they muster a great strength and an innate natural ability with Druidic magic. They will use this to defend themselves and the forest around them.
Firbolgs start with a +2 in wisdom and +1 to strength. This combined with their natural affinity for magic and their ability to commune with nature, make them a natural pick for a Druid. This is how most players build them and it is a strong choice. However, they could easily be used for other classes. These abilities could be used to give free spells to a fighter or barbarian, whereas the ability to turn invisible is useful to any class. Though be warned: Firbolgs are normally good creatures, and any Firbolg considered evil becomes be an automatic enemy of their community.
