10 Underplayed Races You Should Try In Dungeons And Dragons
3. Changling
Many people distrust changelings. Their ability to change the way they look has often been used by spies or vagabonds to gain an advantage. While some changelings are criminals, often using their natural abilities for immoral actions, most just try to live their lives as best they can. Some use their abilities as an art form, or to help people in need. While seen as untrustworthy by most, they are no more corrupt than any other race.
Being the imitators that they are, Changelings get a +2 in charisma and have a choice of a +1 in dexterity or intelligence. Because of their natural affinity for impersonation and need to hide often, Changelings are very skilled in social stealth and deception. They also learn quite a few languages, so that they can better integrate into a foreign society if the need arises. They can also change into a horrifying form to scare attackers.
The biggest feature of the Changeling is, of course, the ability to alter their natural form. While they must keep the same basic shape and weight, they can take on the features of most other races. This allows them to blend in with most cultures. Just remember to bring a change of clothes.
