10 Underrated Recent Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance
9. Far Cry Primal
Far Cry Primal proved two things: 1. Ubisoft can successfully take the 'Far Cry template', completely change its aesthetic and it'll still work, and 2. People will invest big up front, but that fervour won't last in the long run.
Such an immediate "sales first, questions later" approach also applied disastrously to The Division, a game that to this day, struggles to break 4000 concurrent players on Steam. Regardless, Far Cry Primal was an ambitious shake-up to the franchise's core foundations, taking it all the way back to the stone age and equipping you with a number of spears, shivs and animal-riding abilities to suit.
The result was something that feels incredibly fresh and actually pretty damn unique in terms of its setting - it's just a shame that when you think of 2016 overall, it's far too easy to forget this was released in the first place.
