10 Underwhelming Video Games With MUST-PLAY DLC
8. Aftermath - Mortal Kombat 11
Although Mortal Kombat 11 wasn't terrible, it suffered from many minor issues, preventing it from reaching top-tier. MK11 required a permanent internet connection, even when you having a PVP match or playing the story mode.
Also, a lot of features can be only be attained through micro-transactions or a ruthless amount of grinding. To top it all off, the main villain sucked.
However, the very same people who wrote MK11 off came crawling back when the Aftermath add-on was announced. This DLC included new fatalities, stages, kombatants, costumes, dialogue, and a new campaign. Every single character was given a new Friendship finisher - a mechanic which has been absent since MK3.
To top if all off, this expansion brought back the series' original villain, Shang Tsung. Not only did the shapeshifting sorcerer serve as the main villain of the new story mode, he was a playable character. The fact that he's portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the same actor who played Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat film, was the icing on the cake.
Although the second expansion, Ultimate, was a nice bonus, it wasn't necessary. But if you call yourself a true MK fan, Aftermath is 100% worth having.
