10 Unfair Boss Fights Designed To Piss You Off
6. Living Ice (Lost Odyssey)
Lost Odyssey is undeniably one of the most overlooked RPGs in modern gaming, as well as one of the very best exclusives that the Xbox 360 had to offer.
Sadly that doesn't mean it wasn't without its flaws and a handful of taxing boss fights are certainly its most pressing issue.
The very worst is the Living Ice, a late-stage boss that's completely immune to magic. This wouldn't be much of an issue, except the game forces you into using Jansen, Mack, Ming and Cooke, three of whom are spell-casters with very little else in their arsenal. Outside of healing and buffs, they're next to useless, acting as mere sponges for its overly powerful attacks.
Your only hope of getting through this is Mack, but if you hadn't bothered to level him up sufficiently beforehand, this fight becomes a strenuous undertaking that leaves very little room for error.
Sadly the only real way to get around this is to grind for levels in the surrounding area until Mack is strong enough to take the creature down, turning what's an otherwise exceptional game into an exercise in tedium.
