http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x5biIXoKAHo Even though I'm far from the biggest Zelda fan on the planet, it is impossible for me to deny the iconic stature of the original The Legend of Zelda's theme tune, which is a sure-fire classic in the history of video game music. It begins with a haunting melody before bursting into something more aggressive and exciting, helping to paint Zelda as the thrilling adventure series that it is. Of course, later games have had more complicated and impressive arrangements of the tune, but the original will still be regarded as the favourite to many, simply because it's the first, and therefore it's the one they grew up with. The newer games have done a bang-up job modernising the theme, but there's something extremely alluring about a MIDI tune that we just can't shake, unfortunately.
