10 Unintentionally Hilarious 90s Horror Video Games

6. Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle Of Flesh (1996)

Phantasmagoria 2 may well be the creme de la creme of cheesy mid-90's FMV horror titles. Featuring a protagonist strong in the running for geekiest man in the world and exploring a plot so incredibly over-the-top as to be far-past ridiculous, this weird gem is a must play for fans of off-kilter scares.

An outlandish adventure spurred by a series of suspicious workplace murders surrounding the protagonist, things eventually spiral so far out of control that the player ends up encountering nefarious doppelgangers and escaping alternate dimensions. That's to say nothing of the insane gore and fetishistic brutality present in the game: while many titles of its ilk were careful not to tread into ridiculous, unbelievable territory, Phantasmagoria 2 proudly and deliberately jumps the shark while juggling a set of flaming chainsaws.

It may still seem unnerving to some, but the hammy acting and overall inanity of this piece of software makes it much funnier than it really should be. This may be a subjective viewpoint, but 1996's Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh is more memorable for its deliberately dramatic, idiosyncratic nature than it is for any real scares.
