10 Unova Pokémon We Can’t Wait To Catch In Pokémon Go
3. Volcarona
With Volcarona as well as Genesect, Generation V is probably the best generation for Bug Pokémon ever. It’s not a particularly strong typing generally, but with a strong Bug moveset Volcarona could lead the charge for this under represented type and pull it into the meta.
In Black & White, Volcarona’s viability was hampered by a ridiculous evolution grind, not evolving from Larvesta until level 59. Feasibly, you could beat the whole game without ever getting your hands on one. That did add to the mystique of it a little, as it was only available to the most dedicated trainers, but may well have given its mass appeal popularity a dent.
They could go the Magikarp/Wailmer/Swablu way and have it be 400 candies, but then Larvestas would be more common and you could buddy walk to earn one faster. More likely, Larvesta could be the new Feebas/Gible; rarer than a Newcastle fan with his shirt on in December.
Either way, while Pokémon Go certainly won’t make it easy, you’ll at least be able to do Raids and gym battles with Volcarona, instead of just the meagre post game stuff you had left by the time you got one in Black & White.
