10 Unpopular Opinions That’ll Make Gamers Rage

2. Console First-Person Shooters Are Just As Good As On PC

The age of the console shooter was ushered in by Halo's proficient domination of the genre, meaning home consoles were tens of thousands of peoples' first choice when it came to spending a considerable chunk of time mastering every inch of an FPS.

The PC crowd cried out that it just wasn't as good as something like Counter-Strike, Half-Life or any number of popular alternatives, purely down to the 'fact' that controlling everything with two analogue sticks couldn't ever mimic the dexterity and freedom of movement that comes by mapping a reticule to a mouse-covered hand.

Over the years since we've seen nearly every popular first-person shooter ported - or originate - on consoles, and although you can point a giant accusatory finger at the business-end of the game industry for targeting the higher retail price of individual units for any given title, those who have spent hundreds of hours on something like Call of Duty or Halo will tell you they're just as wired into the events on-screen as any keyboard-wielding PC devotee.

With a huge amount of factors going into how a PC game is going to look and play in terms of frame-rates and rendering options - that all vary on the part of the user and their own specific gaming rigs - developers can craft games for consoles they know will be experienced in largely the same way across the board, making sure any group of friends or wider community can share in exactly the same experience.
