LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule formally announced their new sandbox title at E3 2015, promising that players will be able to build their own dream-like scenarios with a set of complex creation tools, which they can then share online with the world. And if that's not cool enough, it's also got PSVR support from day one.

It's a wonderful idea for a game, no question, but one does wonder whether the developer can actually execute the idea to its fullest potential, or could Dreams simply end up another undercooked rendition of an amazing idea, ala Spore?

Though the extensive gameplay that's been shown off does indeed look impressive, the planned open beta has been delayed twice from its original 2016 date, perhaps suggesting that Media Molecule is struggling to deliver on an ever-increasing scope.

The developer insists a beta will still land sometime this year, but of course, with each passing day it becomes easier to believe it'll get pushed to 2019.

As for the game itself, it's still dated for next year, but who knows? Hopefully it'll be worth the wait, but it's best to be cautious given the tendency for ambitious games to crash and burn on release.
